Struggling 1920s playwright David Shayne, having failed to secure financing for his latest work, reluctantly makes a deal with mob boss Nick Valenti to get a Broadway debut with the chance to direct. The catch is David must cast Nick's flibbertigibbet girlfriend Olive in one of the lead roles. As Olive and fading broadway star Helen Sinclair attempt to upstage each other, Olive's gangland bodyguard Cheech starts suggesting changes to David's script. Filled with music from the roaring twenties, exciting dance numbers, and hilarious dialogue, Bullets over Broadway was a definite crowd pleaser.
